HB 350-CRIME VICTIMS' COMPENSATION FOR ARSON

CHAIR McGUIRE announced that the  next order of business would be                                                               
HOUSE BILL NO.  350, "An Act relating to  adding personal injury,                                                               
death, and property damage from arson  in the first degree to the                                                               
offenses compensable by the Violent Crimes Compensation Board."

REPRESENTATIVE CARL  GATTO, Alaska State Legislature,  sponsor of                                                               
HB 350, explained [CSHB 350(STA)].   He noted that on page 2, (K)                                                               
is added to  the list of violent  crimes.  He said  he has talked                                                               
to the chair of the  Violent Crimes Compensation Board (VCCB) who                                                               
has agreed that this definition  of violent crimes was omitted by

REPRESENTATIVE ANDERSON  moved to  report [CSHB 350(STA)]  out of                                                               
committee  with individual  recommendations and  the accompanying                                                               
fiscal  notes.   There  being  no  objection, CSHB  350(STA)  was                                                               
reported out of House Judiciary Standing Committee.
